We have moved

We have moved! Last week we moved into our new house. Check out the pictures of the moving (and renovation in the weeks before) in my fotoalbum.

New doors opening into the garden

The biggest (and most rewarding) project in our new house was removing the back of the house and replacing it with 2 glas doors that open into the garden. This would let us extend the house into the garden and increase the lighting significantly inside. It is great! Below the before, during and after.

Klussen/DIY (last few days)

Our new house is getting along nicely! We can almost move in... a few more days and we will be moving in. The wooden floors have been installed and waxed in white- and grey-wash. The walls have been painted and the bathroom should be finished within 2 days.

Seems like everything is nearly finished, but a lot of small chores remain to be done. We need to finish up the last walls and finish painting after we installed new opening doors (openslaande deuren) into the garden. We also need to finish up painting cupboards, painting in the attic and quite a few other (non painting) things...

As long as we can move in this Saturday everything is ok. After that all the other DIY/chores can be finshed.

On to the next target:

1. Finishing everything so we can move in!

The next few days no work for us, but a 'moving vacation'....

New doors!

New doors (opening into the garden) are installed!

Both can be opened extending the room into the garden.

Klussen/DIY in our new home

We are renovating our new house. In Dutch we call this 'klussen', the English word is 'DIY' I was told by Caroline, Ivo's girlfriend.

We have a contractor for our bathroom and a contractor for our new doors to the garden. We also have a 'parketeur' who will install our wooden floor.

We (Machteld, me, family and friends) are taking care of the rest: filling up holes, cracks, painting walls, closets, the attic, coordinating the electricty, fixing the kitchen, etc, etc.

Job on Bali

We met a new friend Job in Bali (He is the son of a colleague of Machteld). Job is travelling around the world. Check out his weblog (Dutch) to see his travels. Here is a small video of him on a scooter with surfboard.

Bali 2007

We are just back from Bali where we attended the marriage of our friends Jasper & Sheila. I was Master of Ceremonies for them.

It was great to be there and enjoy the wedding with all of our friends. Strange to be with so many friends on the other side of the world.

After the wedding we went to Ubud to relax (with massages and beautiful environment) and have Indonesian cooking lessons. We also went to Legian for surfing and shopping.

Rafting in Holland

I went rafting in the Netherlands at Dutch Water Dreams. It was very cold, +4 C, but it was extremly cool. We took 5 rounds after which we were completly exhausted.

They also have Flowriders for indoor surfing. I have to go back and try that some time...

2 more days

2 more days and Machteld and I are off to Bali. We are going to the wedding of two very good friends. I am the master of ceremony so I have some organizing to do there.

We made a website for their wedding with a lot of pictures.

We're really looking forward to going. We stay there for two weeks, which allows more than enough time to relax and recharge our batteries. Once we get back back we'll get the key to our new house and we can start the (small) 'remodeling' of our house. A new bathroom, etc.

A lot going on in the coming weeks and we been preparing a lot so we can pull off everything smoothly.
